2013 Report - Latest report from Acheru |
Ive just
received some reports written by Rose, the new social worker at
Acheru, as she gets to know some of the children. The following
is part of one story: |
Gods
work is portrayed in Acheru because many children who came
crying are leaving with a smile. We always say that God is good
all the time and all the time God is good, and its true
because we have tried to help many people who come from
different parts of Uganda, and they go away glorifying our work. |
Fionas
story: |
She has been
treated for several years following an accident. People had lost
hope of her recovering. She said: |
Aunt
Rose, I wanted to die because of severe pain. I couldnt
walk, or even get to the toilet. I had wounds which were not
healing, and I was tired of bothering my mum and sisters. One
day I told my sister to buy me poison, and had my last picture
taken with them. That night I started vomiting and when my
condition worsened, my sisters told my mum I drank poison and
they rushed me to hospital. |
Fiona says that
following her time in Acheru she sees a reason for living, she
no longer smells like before and gets restful nights. All her
family are so happy with how Acheru has changed her life. |
I was
thin because I had no appetite. The smell from my wounds caused
me to vomit when they brought food near me. I thought I was
dying but now I can smile. People at home are waiting to see me.
I have been hospitalised for 3 years. Long live Acheru staff,
long live Acheru donors. |
This is one of
a number of stories, and we hope soon to have full details on
the website. We cant imagine what would have happened to
them without Acheru. |
